Research Statistics Unit

The Research Statistics Unit was set up in SmithKline Beecham in 1998, and integrated across GlaxoSmithKline in 2001, with the following mission:
- develop new statistical methods to address industry needs;
- provide expert statistical advice;
- develop expertise in emerging scientific areas, such as bioinformatics, pharmacogenetics and medical imaging;
- interact with academia.
The Unit is envisioned as a research team that collaborates with other statistical and scientific groups in scientific studies, and has a strong influence in the scientific community and with regulatory agencies.
